LA's KSPN-AM (710) will carry New York Jets football
Despite having no NFL franchise in Los Angeles, football games for one team in particular will be carried by "ESPN 710" KSPN-AM, but it will not be the nearby San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers or Oakland Raiders, the three NFL teams in California. Instead, ESPN 710 will be an affiliate of the New York Jets. KSPN will carry all 16 regular season games live, featuring former USC Trojan player Mark Sanchez as its QB. KSPN VP/General Manager Scott McCarthy says, "It's an honor to be able to bring Mark Sanchez back to LA and back to his huge local fan base. There is tremendous passion for the NFL here in LA, and this partnership with an elite franchise will further energize the Southland's sizable population of football fans." The Jets will pair Bob Wischusen and Marty Lyons in the radio broadcast booth for their tenth season together, and this time they'll be heard 3,000 miles away. Back in New York, the NYC Board of Radio-Info.com talks about other situations where out-of-market teams are carried on radio. That discussion is here.Previous and Next Stories
