L.A.'s "Wave" goes all-Christmas, in a Sunday afternoon surprise
Jhani Kaye once programmed the market's heritage all-Christmas station for Clear Channel: AC KOST (103.5). In last year's Holiday Book from Arbitron, it rolled up a crushing 9.3 share with age 6+ AQH listeners. This year, Kaye, now at CBS Radio's smooth AC "Wave" KTWV (94.7), aims to re-write the script. Here's how the Wave's website explains it: "We’re thrilled to announce 94.7 The Wave is L.A.’s NEW Christmas Station. Now through Christmas, you’ll hear all your holiday favorites, including plenty of holiday jazz instrumental songs you’ll only hear here on The Wave." There is also a $1,000 cash giveaway every weekday until Christmas, "to help with some of those holiday bills." As of Sunday night, KOST was sticking with "Southern California's favorite soft rock", and not converting to all-Christmas. See what the L.A. Board is talking about, here.
