Latest FCC Call Sign list suggests format changes past and future

FCC In Bakersfield, the selection of "KRJK" has locals guessing that Owens One Company (the family of country star Buck Owens) will go to a variety hits "Jack" format when the new Class A station licensed to Lamont, CA signs on the air. That's in the just-issued FCC Call Sign report, along with Clear Channel's swap-out of the KFAN call letters. They've moved from its 1130 AM in Minneapolis to its all-sports station at 1270 in Rochester, MN. The Minneapolis station has taken new calls of KTCN, which were previously in Rochester. It's also possible to see Entercom moving around "WEEI"-related call letters in New England, as the former variety hits "93.7 Mike FM" WMKK, Lawrence, MA becomes WEEI-FM. Those calls come off of 103.7 in Westerly, Rhode Island, which is now "WVEI-FM." The list also shows a rare three-letter call sign granted in Philadelphia - for WIP-FM, the former WYSP (94.1). That was possible only because CBS already controlled WIP-AM (610). Check over the latest FCC Call Sign list here.
