Latest RAB report: Automotive re-gains top spot as radio's leading advertiser
For the full year of 2010, Auto Dealer/Dealer Groups/Manufacturers hit $1.808 billion, about $200 million ahead of #2 Communications/Cellular at $1.61 Billion. The Restaurants category was third at $1.342 billion. The TV/Networks/Cable Providers and Financial services categories were tied at $1.333 billion. Radio Advertising Bureau CEO Jeff Haley says "increases across multiple radio categories are indicative of advertisers' confidence in the medium....Radio's top ten advertisers for 2010 spent over $2.6 billion and collectively increased their year-over-year spend by $309 million."
Radio's top ten advertisers for 2010 were: AT&T, Verizon Wireless, McDonald's, Comcast Cable, Safeway, GEICO, JPMorgan Chase, Toyota Dealer Association, Wal-Mart, and Chrysler Group LLC.
Political spending hit $105,200,000 for the total year, says Miller Kaplan, with 49% of that coming in fourth quarter. Read the RAB's report on 2010 revenues and categories here.
