Longtime Lex & Terry syndication executive Peter Welpton is leaving
Welpton helped launch the syndication 13 years ago, and had also taken an on-air role. He leaves on August 31. His note to affiliates says “Just so there is no confusion, my departure is purely coincidental timing with the announcement of a new syndicator.” That’s United Stations. Welpton says he had been “considering a departure from radio for some time”, and that “a grand offer happened to develop”, which he’ll be able to talk about later. His background includes working in Dallas radio at KTXQ, and later, syndicator MJI Broadcasting. The Lex & Terry Show is produced in Dallas at the studios of Clear Channel’s KEGL (97.1), though it no longer clears on the station. Along with its base of terrestrial affiliates, the Lex & Terry show is available on “Extreme XM”, Channel 152, and on Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio app.
