Lousiville's "Beat" goes dark amidst bankrupcy
Way Media’s WWPW “104.3 The Beat” in Louisville is currently off the air. The signal had been leased by Radio-Multi-Media Inc. (headed up by former singer/songwriter Rene Moore of the '80s duo Rene and Angela) since March 2010. It has filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations. This forced station licensee Way Media to seek Special Temporary Authority to take the station dark. The Beat ran the syndicated Rickey Smiley morning show and featured local DJ Young Steff in afternoon drive. Programming was being overseen by veteran urban PD Chuck Atkins. Previous and Next Stories
