Making Moves at the FCC

WGTO-AM (910) in Cassopolis, Michigan receives FCC approval to increase power from 1,000 to 6,000 watts … In Marks, Mississippi, former WQMA-AM (1520) station owner Jason Konarz was fined $14,000 for not having his station’s antenna location properly fenced and locked. WQMA – whose license is now cancelled – was a 250 watt daytime-only station and it has been silent since 2006 … WBSG-AM (1510) in Lajas, Puerto Rico, owned by Perry Broadcasting Systems, was fined $13,000 for failure to notify the FCC of tower ownership changes, and also for tower lighting violations … KPFR-FM (89.5) in Pine Grove, Oregon is off the air and may have to stay that way for awhile. According to an FCC filing, the station’s antenna is located over 6,000 feet above sea level on Mount Hood. The US Forest Service has closed access to the area, due to the threat of avalanches, and winds that can reach over 130 miles per hour.
