Making Moves in Public Radio

Fearing budget cuts will take away their jazz station, fans of Nashville’s WMOT-FM (89.5) are doing everything they can to save the Middle Tennessee State University station, facing the ax over budgetary issues … Weather took out a transmission cable, knocking Northern California’s KFPR-FM (88.9) in Redding off the air. The station, which also broadcasts on 91.9 FM in Burney and 92.3 FM in Dunsmuir, has no backup generator … Fayetteville, Arkansas public station KUAF-FM (91.3) breaks ground on a new facility, expected to be completed by November … Positive news for Albuquerque, New Mexico’s KUNM-FM (89.9), as Arbitron shows the station reaching 112,800 people per week during fall 2008 ratings – an all-time high … Allen Schares is promoted to Music Director for Iowa Public Radio.
