Making Moves On Country Radio

There’s been some recent changes at WCOW (Cow 97) LaCrosse/Sparta, where Ric Franke is now PD and morning co-host, according to the Web site NorthPine.com. Franke previously was the p.m. driver at crosstown classic rock WKBH-FM. Meanwhile, former Cow 97 morning co-host Mike Burns Gilbert has moved to middays … Also in Wisconsin, NRG Media’s country WYTE-FM (106.5) Wausau/Stevens Point has re-branded as “Y106.5,” according to NorthPine.com. The station is now using the slogan “Today’s Best Country.” Another site, WisconsinBroadcasting.com has posted audio of the transition … Classic country daytimer WBZI-AM (1500) in Dayton, Ohio has added an FM translator and can now be heard around the clock on 100.3, according to the Dayton Daily News. The station is adding high school sports coverage to its schedule … Country WLHR-FM (105.9) in Lavonia, Georgia is back on the air from a temporary transmitter site Feb. 13, two weeks after its tower was sabotaged when a set of guyed wires were deliberately cut, causing the 284 foot tower to collapse. The damage has been estimated at around $100,000 by station officials. The sabotage is still under investigation … Tammy Trujillo, former news anchor on KFWB Los Angeles, is the new fill-in traffic personality on crosstown KKGO (Go Country 105.1 FM), reports the Orange County Register’s Gary Lycan. She will sub for Ashley Paige and Ginny Harmon and will be on Shawn Parr’s program 5-9 a.m. Feb. 15.
