After 20 years of mornings on Phoenix AC KESZ-FM (99.9) and 4,000 live radio shows, morning co-host Bill Austin says he will hang up his headphones and retire, this week … Albany, New York’s WGY-AM (810) will drop local host Al Roney and replace him with the syndicated Glenn Beck, starting March 1 … Radio-Info has learned that News Director John Zimney is leaving KTAR-FM (92.3) in Phoenix. No replacement has been named … In Syracuse, Citadel’s all-sports “The Score” WNSS (the former ESPN Radio 1260) picks up new call letters – WSKO … Stockton, California’s KWSX-AM (1280) is the new home for minor league hockey’s Stockton Thunder … In the “Big Easy,” the new flagship station for the minor league baseball New Orleans Zephyrs is WMTI-FM “True Oldies” (106.1) … Congratulations to Denver’s KALC-FM “Alice” (105.9), for raising $1.5 million raised in 36 hours for Children’s Hospital. To do so, the station broke format, stopping the music and instead, interviewed patients at the hospital and aired listener calls with their own stories. Listeners could donate $10 by texting “OurKids” in the last ten minutes of each hour.
