Making Moves Longtime Cleveland country WGAR-FM (99.5) morning host Jim Mantel is moving south, heading to country WRNS-FM (95.1) in Greenville, North Carolina for mornings ... It's a big jump for Danny Parkins, who leaves Syracuse, New York's WSKO-AM (1260) for Kansas City where he takes over late-mornings on sports/talk KCSP-AM (610). He's replacing Shan Shariff, who jumps to Dallas to co-host mornings on "Fan" KRLD-FM (105.3) ... Joshua Bassett is leaving radio, resigning as promotions director for Alternative KEXX-FM (103.9) in Phoenix and joining Coca Cola to become the Phoenix market manager for their Smartwater & Vitaminwater products ... Also leaving radio is Meridian, Mississippi's country WOKK-FM (97.1) PD Todd "Sharkey" Rupe, who's going back to college for his master's degree ... Former MLB Sports reporter Trenni Kusnierek joins Journal Broadcast Group's WTMJ-AM (620) as the afternoon sports update reporter, and to co-host "Sports Central" in the evenings with Greg Matzek ... In Los Angeles, non-commercial KKJZ-FM (88.1) will have saxophonist Kenny G as a show host Sundays 7pm-9pm, says the L.A. Times- Discuss it ... For the 12th year in a row, the Best of Las Vegas magazine has picked the morning team of Mark & Mercedes of KMXB-FM (94.1) as the best local radio personalities.
