After a 30-year run at National Public Radio, today is the last weekday of work for Carl Kasell, who is retiring from his daily duties for NPR News and “Morning Edition.” He continues as the announcer for NPR’s weekend quiz show “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me” and will be an ambassador for NPR … MetroNetworks/NYC names Mike Weinstein its AM Operations Manager, overseeing producers & scheduling. He will also be heard middays doing traffic on WINS-AM (1010) … KSGF-AM (1260) in Springfield, MO and morning drive talk host Vincent David Jericho have parted ways … Jack Boston is leaving country “Eagle 97.3” WGH-FM in Newport News, Virginia for a job as the Chief of Public Affairs for the U.S. Army, based in Natick, Massachusetts, says VARTV … Phil Mikan decides not to renew his contract with Hartford, Connecticut’s WDRC-AM (1360), and will provide brokered shows to Middletown’s WMRD-AM (1150) .. In Wichita, Kansas, KEYN-FM (103.7) will partner Don Hall with station PD Jack Oliver for morning drive … Boston’s WGBH-FM (89.7) is adding “The Emily Rooney Show” for middays, followed by “The Callie Crossley Show,” starting January 11. They’re both personalities at sister WGBH-TV … Congratulations to “93Q” KKBQ, Houston morning co-host Kevin Kline, who is nearing the end of his 13-day 500-mile run to raise $500,000 for the Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
