Many winning candidates in Tuesday's primaries spent heavily on radio
For instance: Media Monitors reports that California Republican candidate Meg Whitman bought 7,352 spots between August 1 and August 24, in the Golden State markets it surveys. Whitman won her primary. Other winners include Rick Scott in Florida (4,460 spots) and John McCain in Arizona (1,015). Another Arizona Republican, Jan Brewer, bought nearly as many as McCain (995). WWE wrestling magnate Linda McMahon is in the top 20 in radio spending in the relatively small state of Connecticut.
