Marc Steiner is part of the changes at Baltimore's non-commercial WEAA
It was in February when WYPR-FM (88.1) severed ties with Marc Steiner. Steiner's two producers would soon follow him out the door. According to his blog, the former WYPR-FM personality will host a "town hall" meeting tonight on Morgan State University's WEAA-FM (88.9). The move is a part of bigger changes coming to WEAA, which include adding Democracy Now!, hosted by Amy Goodman & Juan Gonzalez, and "The Takeaway," the new PRI-distributed morning news program. WEAA's trying to blend more general-interest talk and news into the mostly jazz music format. General Manager LaFontaine Oliver tells the Baltimore Sun, "We were already looking at some programming changes to strengthen our news/talk & public affairs lineup when the situation happened with Marc." A potential regular call-in show starring Steiner is also in the works, along with hosting other town hall meetings.
