March Internet Audio rankers from Triton Digital show jumps for Session Starts
The jumps in one of the key stats for Triton Digital's Webcast Metrics are seen for both Internet-only services like Pandora and Slacker, and for terrestrial services that stream. The Pandora numbers may still be affected by what Triton Digital last month called the "inadvertent omission by Pandora" of the code that measures audience and time spent listening in some versions of their mobile software apps. In the March standings:#1 Pandora is flat in "Average Active Sessions" at 599,214. (Last month it was 599,476.) Session Starts jumped from about 201 million in February to a serverside-measured 232,674,382.
#2 CBS Radio Inc. includes the AOL Radio and Yahoo Launchcast families. Its Active Sessions grew from 150,835 to 155,863. Session Starts showed a major increase, from 48,679,373 to 58,181,909.
#3 Clear Channel Radio, including its iHeartRadio products, saw Active Sessions grow slightly, from 128,774 to 131,554. But Session Starts rose considerably, from 29,223,855 to 35,227,996.
#4 Citadel saw the same pattern: Active Sessions increased somewhat (48,669 to 52,179). But Session Starts did a double-digit gain from about 9.7 million to 10,797,979.
#5 Slacker Radio saw improvement in Active Sessions (37,692 to 39,697). But a larger increase in Session Starts (13,362,803 to 16,479,100).
