Marconi "Legendary Station" winner for 2011: all-news WTOP, Washington DC
Last year, WTOP won two NAB Marconis, for Major Market station of the year and News/Talk station of the year. Last night in Chicago, it scored the big award, for Legendary Station. Its competition was three CBS stations (all-sports “Fan” WFAN, New York, Chicago all-news WBBM-AM and San Francisco’s KCBS-AM and its FM partner), plus Clear Channel’s CHR “Kiss FM” KIIS-FM. Minnesota-based Hubbard Radio recently acquired WTOP-FM (103.5) and its simulcast partners from Bonneville.
