Miami's sports WQAM hires Gino Torretta to host late-mornings
He was a Heisman Trophy Award-winning quarterback for the University of Miami and a very recognizable name to Miami-area sports fans. Gino Torretta is being brought in as WQAM-AM (560) shuffles the lineup. Along with Toretta in the 10am-12pm slot will be Steve White, according to the Miami Herald. White is the former PD of rival sports station WAXY-AM (790) “The Ticket,” who was fired last year. The late-morning move means Orlando “The Big O” Alzugaray will move to evenings from 7pm-10pm, replacing Kevin Rogers, who will remain with WQAM in a part-time capacity. Beasley’s WQAM also announced their morning host, “Big Dog” Joe Rose, has signed a contract extension to remain on “Sports Radio 560.”
