"More time for radio to get its act together" on the People Meter

RAB_ConfGeneral Manager Blaise Howard of WBEB, Philadelphia tells Monday's "PPM and the Diary" session at RAB2008 in Atlanta that "I watching Saving Private Ryan, and it's like we [in Philadelphia] are the first ones on the beach" with the People Meter - and are taking casualties. But New York and other markets that were supposed to follow Philadelphia and Houston in going "live" have been pushed back until late Summer, and at least that gives radio a chance to re-group. One area where Howard feels radio can do a much better job: communicating the changes to agencies and clients. Those include changes in radio's reach and Time Spent Listening. Local television went through a similar change several years ago with the Nielsen Local Meter and Howard says the TV stations seemed much more coordinated about the transition - and better at holding rates.
