Nashville's new "Hippie Radio 94.5" launched at 3pm Friday
See the station's :30 TV spot on Youtube, here.Sign-on song for Hippie 94.5 was "Revolution", by the Beatles. Local personality Spider Harrison is the featured talent, so far. Tony Richards bought WFGZ and moved it from Lobelville, Tennessee to the Nashville area, with new city of license Bellevue. The station has been testing its signal this week, giving the Nashville Board of Radio-Info.com a chance to report on its reach. One poster says he was "surprised at the signal on Music Row", given that it's a Class A on the western side of the market. The "Hippie" format is classic hits. Richards' Kensington Digital Media paid $1,825,000 for its first property. Richards spent 34 years with the Dille family's Federated Media in Indiana before making his first purchase. See what the Nashville Board is thinking about "Hippie Radio" WHPY-FM (94.5) here. The new station's website is here.
