Nashville's "Party" begins stunting its way to all-sports "The Game"
Update: The construction sounds that the Cromwell Group used in the beginning gave way to the repeated play of "Rocky Top", the Tennessee fight song. They also used a montage of Gary Glitter's "Rock & Roll Part Two" and Predators play-by-play clips." The Game's Facebook page (here) says the new format debuts Monday at 6am.
The Nashville Board of Radio-Info says hot AC "Party 102.5" WPRT-FM disappeared at 5pm Friday, with the looped playing of "The Party is Over" and spoken comments about the same topic. The Cromwell Group has been creating studios for the new "Game", and apparently that work is well enough along to tease the new format. Cromwell and the Nashville Predators announced this week that the NHL team will be moving its schedule over from Cromwell Group's rock WBUZ (102.9) to the new Game, beginning with a September 20 pre-season contest with the Washington Caps. The Nashville Board of Radio-Info is tracking the format change, here. Nashville will have two FM all-sports stations, as The Game challenges Citadel Broadcasting's "104.5 The Zone" WGFX.
