Nearly 23 million heard Sunday's NFL playoff games on radio
Syndicator Dial Global commissioned Edison Research to do a first-of-its-kind study of game-day listenership. Edison finds that an estimated 22.9 million people listened to one or both of the conference championship games (Patriots-Ravens or Giants-Forty Niners) on the radio. In this case, “radio” also encompasses satellite and mobile apps. Larry Rosin of Edison says “The overwhelming majority of radio listeners listened on AM or FM radio, but the survey did show usage of Sirius XM and the Verizon Mobile app.” The telephone-based study was conducted on Monday, January 23, the day after the games. Dial Global co-president/CEO David Landau says “this type of focused study and strategic attention to the business exemplify our commitment to being the most innovative and service-focused company in the industry, supporting our affiliates and advertisers.”
