New Orleans has a new hip-hop challenger with Citadel's "Power 102.9"
The new KKND "Power 102.9" playing "Non-stop hip-hop" will feature the syndicated "Big Boy's Neighborhood" in mornings. Previously, 102.9 was the home of Urban oldies KMEZ, which flipped to Urban AC on May 20 of this year, and started simulcasting on co-owned 106.7. That was the original KKND, which dropped its country format to briefly simulcast KMEZ. But this was all to make room for the new Urban format. The FCC database says the call letters officially swapped frequencies on June 10.
