New radio flagship for the Oakland A's: Country "Wolf" KBWF
Entercom announces a four-year deal that begins with Friday's "Opening Night" broadcast against the Seattle Mariners and runs through the 2014 baseball season. The Oakland A's had previously aired on KTRB (860) and the team held negotiations to acquire the station outright. But the court-appointed receiver reportedly didn't accept the offer, and now today Entercom announces that its "95.7 The Wolf" country KBWF will be the new San Francisco flagship for the American League A's. The Wolf will carry all 162 regular season games plus any post-season games. KTRB had aired many of this year's pre-season games up until last weekend. Last year's entire radio team returns: Ken Korach, Vince Cotroneo and Ray Fosse. The Wolf may be a music-based station, but pre-game coverage gets nearly a full 90 minutes before the opening pitch. This is Entercom's third alliance with Major League Baseball. It also carries the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals. Outside of San Francisco, the A's Radio Network has a dozen affiliates this year. The San Francisco Board here at Radio-Info.com is talking about the new alliance here.
