New York City radio observes the tenth anniversary of 9/11
New York City radio was at the forefront of reporting on September 11, 2001. A decade later, News/talk WABC-AM (770) has all its local hosts broadcasting live from Ground Zero, leading off at 7:30am with "Religion on the Line" hosts Rabbi Joseph Potasnik & Deacon Kevin McCormack. WOR-AM (710) will have the legendary John Gambling with newsman Joe Bartlett at Ground Zero in the morning, while Gambling has been doing 9/11 specials each morning this week. All-news WCBS-AM (880) has been airing a series called "Ten Years After," and will provide live coverage on September 11 hosted by anchors Pat Carroll & Steve Scott. WINS-AM (1010), co-owned with WCBS, has been airing a series called "Remember, Respect, Renew." They will also broadcast live from Ground Zero on Sunday, co-anchored by veteran reporters Stan Brooks, Juliet Papa and Al Jones, with reporters at the ceremony as well as on Long Island and in New Jersey. New York's newest all-newser, WEMP-FM (101.9), has aired memories from their reporters and listeners all week, and will have an anchor team leading coverage on Sunday, with reporters at Ground Zero and the New York suburbs. Non-commercial WNYC-AM/FM (820 / 93.9) has spent the week airing special reports, and will have Brian Lehrer anchoring coverage on September 11.
