New York City's radio ad revenue climbs 9% in January, led by Clear Channel
The improving advertising picture for New York City radio was helped by Clear Channel’s cluster, which includes “Lite FM” WLTW-FM (106.7) & “Z-100” WHTZ-FM (100.3), which soared 16% in January from the same time one year ago. Clear Channel NY Market Manager Joe Puglise tells Crain’s New York Business, “Advertisers are putting their toe back in the water.” Crain’s reports the overall monthly gain for January in New York City was 9%, a figure matched by CBS Radio’s cluster, which includes all-news WINS-AM (1010) and all-sports WFAN-AM (660). CBS Radio was the top overall advertising biller in the New York market in 2009. However, Crain’s notes Clear Channel has topped CBS as the top biller in the market for the last three straight months.
