New York's Pulse is gone at 87.7 – but it's time to "Party" on the same frequency
Mega Media’s deal with low power Channel 6 TV station WNYZ-TV has ended, and now Long Island-based JVC is taking over the 87.7 frequency via lease. JVC’s Hamptons-based “Party 105.3” WPTY, Calverton-Roanoke, NY will begin simulcasting on 87.7 on Monday. That restores a dance format to the Big Apple. It’s also a return to the New York airwaves for Vic Latino, who is a principal of JVC, where he’s known as Victor Canales. Vic once jocked at Clear Channel’s rhythmic WKTU (103.5). The Hamptons station now known as WPTY (105.3) just changed its call letters from WDRE, reported the T-R-I newsletter late last week. The New York Board of Radio-Info is alive with threads about what happened to “Pulse”, the arrival of “Party” to New York, and JVC’s other plans. That’s here.
