Nielsen signs up its fourth radio-group client for ratings – Maverick Media

Gary Rozynek’s Connecticut-based Maverick Media has 20 stations in four markets and one of them – Rockford, Illinois – is a Nielsen radio ratings market. Maverick’s cluster there includes rocker “X” WXRX (104.9) and classic hits “Bob” WRTB (95.3). Nielsen surveyed the market with its sticker diary in March and April, and will release its first radio ratings in 51 small markets in August. It entered radio because of a request for proposals from Cumulus, which owns stations in Rockford such as CHR WZOK (97.5). Previously-announced Nielsen customers, nationwide, are Cumulus, Clear Channel and ESPN Radio. Nielsen competitor Arbitron tells Radio-Info that “We proudly continue to serve the Rockford market and will work closely with stations and agencies/advertisers.” Also – “We are committed to providing small markets with data from multiple surveys per year that customers can use with confidence as currency in their transactions.” Nielsen’s current schedule is for once-a-year ratings.
