NYC's new "Party" adds a jock from predecessor "Pulse 87.7"
That’s DJ Serge, and WPTY’s Vic Latino (Victor Canales) tells the Daily News there could be additional talent pickups from the now-defunct dance-music “Pulse.” On virtually no notice, the JVC group has taken over the lease of the audio of Channel 6 WNYZ-LP from owner Island Broadcasting. Negotiations began after the 5pm Friday signoff of Pulse, whose parent had financial problems. JVC is now simulcasting its Hamptons-market WPTY (105.3) on 87.7 in the Big Apple. Latino says “We’re not kidding ourselves. We know this is a tough frequency."
