Ohio and Alaska get new talk stations
Within the last few months, the Youngstown, Ohio market has gone from having two nostalgia stations to none. Following the flip of WNIO-AM (1390) from standards to sports, Cumulus has taken WSOM-AM (600) and turned it from standards to conservative-leaning syndicated talk. Radio-Info is told the new lineup includes America's Morning News in the morning, followed by Glenn Beck 9am-12pm, Michael Savage 12pm-3pm, Dennis Miller 3pm-6pm, Jason Lewis 6pm-9pm and Rusty Humphries 9pm-12am. Meanwhile: In Anchorage, Alaska Integrated Media has signed on KOAN-AM (1020) as "Fox News Talk 1020." It was formerly KABA-AM, which went silent in September, 2008 following a transmitter failure. The lineup is syndicated talkers John Gibson, Brian Kilmeade, Alan Colmes and Lars Larson along with Citadel Media's John Batchelor and Doug McIntyre. Also featured is the local Shannyn Moore. When KOAN-AM signed on, progressive talk sister-station KUDO-AM (1080) was taken off the air, with some of its progressive shows now on KOAN.
