Oklahoma City Gets Fourth Country Station as Jake FM Debuts
Ready for markets with four Country stations again? That’s the scenario in Oklahoma City, where the 93.3 frequency previously occupied by Tyler Broadcasting’s KKNG (King Country), became KJKE “Jake FM” over the weekend under consultant (and former OKC programmer) Joel Folger. Jake FM is using the slogan “Oklahoma’s New Country” and is emphasizing “more new country music than any station has ever played in Oklahoma City.” Tyler Media operations director Kevin Christopher is helming the programming. Jake FM is streaming live. KKNG was most recently running a yesterday-and-today mix against Clear Channel’s contemporary KTST (The Twister) and classic country KXXY but, as previously reported, has migrated to outlying sister signal KOJK (97.3) and returned to the classic country format that put the station on the map more than a decade ago. MD Lynn Waggoner has been upped to PD. Users of the Oklahoma discussion board at Radio-Info.com are talking over the change.
