One policy change at the ex-Bonneville stations: Hubbard says lottery ads are ok

From today's TRI Newsletter: The LDS Church-owned Bonneville International put its faith into action and refused to accept ads related to gaming. That included casino ads and even those for state-operated lotteries. But with last Friday's closing, Chicago manager Drew Horowitz tells Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder that Hubbard is okay with taking that business. Though Horowitz says generally, “if it wouldn’t run for Bonneville, it wouldn’t run for Hubbard, either.” He explains that “from a values standpoint, the values of the Hubbard family [in Minnesota] and Hubbard Broadcasting are no different from those of the [Mormon] Church.” Hubbard now owns the Eastern and Midwestern stations of Bonneville, in Chicago, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. We learn one other thing about the terms of Hubbard’s $505 million purchase from Bonneville. At least in Chicago, hot AC “Mix” WTMX (101.9) will continue carrying the Bonneville-produced Sunday morning “Music & the Spoken Word”, the devotional show from Salt Lake City featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
