Orlando personality George Crossley dies, after collapsing at the station

WEUS (810) owner Carl Como says Crossley – who lived a colorful life in his 69 years – “loved doing what he was doing, helping others who were disadvantaged.” Crossley was originally an evangelical minister (says the Orlando Sentinel) who went into radio and TV ministry in the 1980s, but then get into trouble when he tried to hire a hit man to kill his girlfriend’s husband. He served 40 months in prison, and came out of jail in 2000 with a new outlook and a new mission. He started CopWatch, to monitor police for potential civil rights violations, and he became the head of the local chapter of the ACLU. He'd recently been on the air at WEUS, and collapsed there sometime Wednesday evening. Crossley was a familiar figure to folks on the Orlando Board of Radio-Info.com, here.
