The traditional way to use the online customized radio service is to enter a favorite artist, song or composer. Now, Pandora offers “carefully-crafted genre stations” as starters. Those include Today’s Hits, Today’s Adult Hits, Today’s Hip Hop and R&B Hits, 80s Pop, Today’s Country, Classic Rock, and Smooth Jazz. Pandora Senior Music Curator Michael Zapruder says the new “genre” stations are “carefully seeded with relevant songs and constantly refreshed with new releases.” There are also “micro-genre stations”, such as Electronic, Family, Indie and Folk.
