Philly’s Unity Day for 2009 is canceled
Cutbacks have cost Clear Channel heritage Urban AC WDAS-FM (105.3) Philadelphia, its annual “Unity Day.” While the station celebrated a very successful 30th anniversary last year, it made the announcement Friday that it was not going to hold the annual summer event for 2009. WDAS said, “For three decades Unity Day has been a tremendous success for our community, sponsors and for the station. An event of this magnitude and reach relies on both financial and human resources from a variety of entities, organizations, corporations and businesses. Due to the difficult economic times, we cannot produce Unity Day this year. However, our commitment and spirit continue.”
