Phoenix talk host J.D. Hayworth may get back into politics, with a run for John McCain's Senate seat
He’s a former US Congressman who spent 12 years representing Arizona’s 5th District. Lately, J.D. Hayworth has been the afternoon drive talk show host on KFYI-AM (550) in Phoenix. Now comes word that he may try his hand at politics again, this time challenging former presidential candidate John McCain for his Senate seat. The Washington Post and Wall Street Journal both reported on the rumor, claiming Hayworth is more popular with conservatives in the GOP, whereas McCain carries more moderates within his party. Hayworth took over afternoons on KFYI in 2007, a few months after his very narrow 2006 election loss to Democrat Harry Mitchell following a recount.
