Phoenix talk host J.D. Hayworth to challenge John McCain for the US Senate?
While current KFYI-AM (550) afternoon talker and former Representative Hayworth has not announced yet whether he will make a run for the the seat currently held by Senator and former GOP Presidential candidate John McCain, he is getting pressure to announce his plans. Former Arizona attorney general Grant Woods, a McCain supporter, filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, saying Hayworth shouldn’t be able to use his radio show to further his political aspirations. In response, Hayworth wrote on his Twitter page, “Paging Mr Grant Woods… you left your brain in the lobby! Woods tries to gag a non-declared non-candidate citizen – ME! 1st Amendment? BAH!” One recent Rasmussen poll says McCain is just 2 points ahead of Hayworth, while a GOP poll released about the same time has McCain with a 20-point lead in a GOP primary challenge.
