Podcasting is possible without the Internet, using DAB+

The Chinese and Australians are cooperating on “Push Radio”, to be developed jointly by China’s Jolon Media Broadcasting and Commercial Radio Australia. It takes advantage of the expanded capacity of DAB+, the next-generation version of the “DAB” digital radio standard adopted by the UK. DAB+ allows for the transmission of pictures and text. The Digital-Media Australia site says the Chinese and Australians will be working on Push Radio for the next 12 months, with a trial in Australia later this year. Joan Warner of Commercial Radio Australia calls it a “major step forward” for DAB+.
