Price for K-Love's new FM in Salt Lake City: $5.75 million
Although there’s a cash discount for KKAT-FM (107.5) if K-Love parent Educational Media Foundation is able to pay all-cash at closing instead of taking a promissory note from the seller. The seller of KKAT-FM, Orem, Utah (107.5) is the Wasatch Radio Trust, run by Scott Knoblauch. The full Class C has long been part of Citadel. But years ago, Citadel guaranteed a loan for another FM in the market to Wachovia Bank, a loan made to 3 Point Media. The lender forced Citadel to take back that station (KHTB at 94.9), which pushed Citadel over the FCC limit. It chose to place KKAT into a trust, and now the FCC filing reveals the amount. Option package #1 has EMF paying $2 million and then paying off a note for the balance of $3.75 million. Option #2 lets it pay $5.5 million, if it pays all at once. K-Love parent Educational Media Foundation installed its contemporary Christian network K-Love format on previously-country KKAT in late March.
