"Q101 will live on at Q101.com", says the Chicago alt-rocker

WKQX More signs about what's next in Chicago radio, as Emmis turns over WKQX to Merlin Media for an LMA that begins Friday (7/15). The jocks are doing their farewell airshifts today, and the station website carries this message -

"Regardless of what happens to Q101 at 101.1 FM, you'll still be able to hear Chicago's alternative, Q101, at Q101.com."

Emmis will continue to offer the station online, though it's unclear how much jock involvement there will be. WKQX has held very steady in the recent April, May and June Arbitron PPMs, with age 6+ AQH: 2.0-1.8-1.9. In fact, the 1.9 share ties it with another station that's going away: CBS Radio's AC "Fresh 105.9" WCFS, soon to become the simulcast partner for all-news WBBM-AM (780).
