Q3 report: Sirius XM subscribers now top 21.3 million
Some analysts had expected more than 334,000 net subscriber additions in the latest quarter, but like the fact that the satellite radio operator's SAC (subscriber acquisition costs) are dropping. Sirius XM calls it "cost-efficient growth." The subscriber churn remained steady, around 1.9%. Sirius XM revenues grew 6% to $763 million, and CEO Mel Karmazin is keeping his guidance for the full year, going into the important holiday season. Free cash flow improved 22% to $75 million. Sirius XM is bringing out its next-generation "2.0" line of receivers, with more capabilities to compete with Internet radio services and other competitors.
