Radio Disney reports record ratings, nationwide
The kids-and-moms network benefits from the age 6 starting point that Arbitron uses for its PPM ratings. The standard beginning age for diarykeepers, outside the PPM markets, is 12. Now Radio Disney says “the Arbitron data shows over 67% of moms 18+ with kids 2-14 listen to Radio Disney with a child.” It says it’s reaching a weekly audience of 29.2 million listeners 6+, and 8.3 million kids 6-14. And the ratings are improving: “Radio Disney’s ratings posted double-digit percent gains over year-ago levels in kids 6-11” (up from a 1.8 rating to a 2.0), 6-14 (up from a 1.5 to a 2.1) and Moms 18+ with kids 2-11 (from a 0.9 to a 1.6).“ The Radio Disney service has helped the Disney empire produce a number of hit recording acts for tweens, and it regularly features stars like the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber and Taio Cruz.
