Edmonton’s CHMC-FM (99.3) has flipped formats from A/C to a mixture of A/C, Lite Rock and Smooth Jazz, after being given CRTC approval. You can listen to “Smooth Jazz Magic 99” here … The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission denied an application by Byrnes Communications, who asked to increase the effective radiated power of CIHR-FM (104.7) “Heart-FM” from 7,096 to 8,950 watts, citing non-compliance “with its conditions of license relating to contributions to Canadian talent development (CTD)” for 2006-2009 … Quebec’s Transport Ministry announced it will spend $2 million to set up a radio station at 910-AM to broadcast traffic information in Montreal, however CBC News says it’s unclear if the information will be live with traffic reporters, or recorded info … After 40 years behind the microphone, Edmonton’s CHED-AM (630) morning host Gord Whitehead, the station’s only morning host since it flipped to news/talk in 1993, is retiring … The syndicated Blues Deluxe radio program adds Ottawa, Ontario’s CIDG-FM (101.9) as its newest affiliate. You can listen to “Dawg-FM” here … CKZZ-FM (95.3) “Virgin Radio Vancouver” morning show producer Scott Shantz wanted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of a landmark wooden rollercoaster by riding it 100 times. He got sick by his 7th ride and called it quits.
