Will Virgin Radio disappear? The rights to the name belong to Sir Richard Branson, and he doesn't want Absolute Radio, which is bidding on SMG, to have it if a deal is struck - and that may be soon ... The Times of London is reporting if the SMG-Absolute Radio deal happens, Branson could relaunch Virgin Radio himself in the UK ... A report due out Monday is expected to show some that BBC radio & news people may be getting paid more than they should, according to the Guardian newspaper ... Canada's Canwest is reportedly open to a sale of the UK-based stations ... BBC Radio 1 will replace the popular Edith Bowman, who is on maternity leave, with Nihal, Vernon Kay, and Fearne Cotton ... Bauer Radio's "Q Radio" brings aboard David Quantick, the writer behind "Grumpy Old Men", to host a show starting next month.
