Radio One layoffs in Houston hit programming and on-air
The urban specialist makes cutbacks at the cluster, by letting urban AC KMJQ (102.1) PD Sam Choice go, along with Gospel KROI (92.1) production director Val Wilson. Both jobs will be absorbed into the duties of other personnel at the station. At Urban KBXX (97.9) "the Box", midday lady Carmen Contreras exits and overnight host Brandi Garcia moves to midday. At night, the Kracker Nuttz team extend their shift 7 - midnight, meaning that late nighters DJ Aggrivated and Def Jam Blaster are out.
