Radio One makes big cuts in Atlanta, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Washington, Philly...
Here's the latest: In Atlanta, Rodney Ho at the Journal Constitution reports that "Hot 107.9 got rid of the morning show, the A Team." It's at least trimmed the show from five staffers, and is in talks to bring in the syndicated Rickey Smiley. Also confirmed: in Washington DC, WKYS MD/Director of Creative Services P-Stew has been let go, along with eight other employees in the cluster. Radio-Info hears that several fulltime and parttime staffers are out in Cleveland, and some vacancies won't be filled. In Cincinnati, Radio-Info.com has confirmed that Radio One PD Phillip March has exited urban AC WMOJ, along with an on air staffer at AM talker WDBZ (1230). And in Columbus, it's believed that WCKX PM driver B Slim and production director Ed Dozier are out. There were also layoffs in markets like Richmond and Charlotte - where Radio One moved into a new $1.4 million facility just months ago.
