Radio Personality Tre Black is dead at 41
Radio-Info.com is saddened to report the death of Urban radio veteran Tre Black. He was 41. Black was found dead on Sunday, March 7, from an apparent heart attack. The young radio DJ was known for his big personality and even bigger dreams. He worked in several markets over the course of his career including New Orleans (on KNOU), in Los Angeles (on KKBT “The Beat”) and New York (on WWPR “Power 105.1”), but he’s best known for his years as night jock on WJLB Detroit, where he started his now infamous “Black List.” When Black left Detroit for LA, he went on to work in several independent movies and on movie soundtracks in addition to being heard on the radio. He was most recently a personality on Clear Channel’s “Power 105.1,” hosting Friday and Saturday nights. He also started his own company TreBlackRadioCheck – an online industry news and aircheck service. In addition to his radio station gigs, Black worked with Don Cody Enterprises doing voiceovers for Moses Media Inc. Friends are remembering Tre on the Radio-Info.com Urban board.
