Radio Remembers: Alabama's Bert Bank; Britain's Steve Race

He was a heroic and decorated World War II veteran who survived 33 months in a Japanese prison camp and walked the Bataan Death March. Bert Bank returned from the horrors of war to start up two Tuscaloosa radio stations, WTBC-AM (1230) & WTBC-FM, and he also founded the Alabama Football Network. Bank was twice elected to the Alabama House of Representatives and once to the state Senate. He’s passed away at age 94 … Steve Race was the host of BBC Radio 4’s long-running quiz show, “My Music,” spanning four decades. Race was also involved in the shows “Any Questions?,” “With Great Pleasure,” “A Good Read” and “Jazz in Perspective.” Race was 88.
