Radio Remembers: John Henning; Larry Miklas; Rob Aubert
John Henning was a broadcasting and media legend in Boston. A longtime news and political reporter, Henning worked at three TV stations spanning parts of four decades, and after his TV retirement, he joined WBZ-AM (1030) as a political commentator. A member of the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Henning passed away following cancer treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 73 … He was a longtime high school sports broadcaster in the Youngstown, Ohio area. Larry Miklas had called more than 1,000 high school football and basketball games in his career and had recently been calling games on WBBG-FM (106.1) and WNIO-AM (1390). Miklas passed away following a brief illness. He was 60 … Rob Aubert will be remembered as a longtime voice of New Orleans radio. Aubert got his start on WLOX in Mississippi, before moving to New Orleans and joining WGSO-AM. He would leave WGSO and spend the next two decades anchoring the morning news on WWL-AM (870). The winner of a number of broadcasting awards, Aubert passed away after a brief bout with cancer. He was 66.
