Radio Remembers: "Larry the Legend" of Milwaukee and Chicago
He got his start in radio in 1953 in Nashville, Tennessee, and climbed the radio ladder in Chattanooga at WDXB-AM, where he spent 15 years and became the station's VP & GSM. Larry "The Legend" Johnson would later leave and move to Chicago, where he became a big name hosting overnights on WIND-AM (560). Johnson bounced around radio after that, including stops at the Windy City's WMAQ-AM, and followed his time in Chicago with two decades in Milwaukee's WZUU and WISN, plus at a Green Bay TV station. Johnson has passed away at 78.
