Radio Remembers: Minnesota's Arthur Hoehn; Ag radio's Derry Brownfield

Radio Remembers Arthur Hoehn was the first announcer on Minnesota Public Radio, and spent 44 years there starting when he was the first professional announcer on its first classical music station, KSJR-FM (90.1) in Collegeville. He did everything there, from moving equipment to talking about classical music, and outside of Minnesota, he took a job on a Mexican border blaster station where he was known as "Fat Daddy Washington," a sidekick to the legendary Wolfman Jack. Hoehn, a recent inductee to the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame, passed away following a battle with lung cancer. He was 72. Minnesota Public Radio has more about Hoehn's career here ... Derry Brownfield was the co-founder of the Brownfield Network, an agri-news service for many Midwest stations. He also started Learfield Communications with Clyde Lear in the 1970's. Brownfield became legendary for his farm and agri-news broadcasts, and his own talk show was carried by stations nationwide. Tributes have been pouring into the Derry Brownfield Show Facebook page since his passing. Brownfield was 79.
